Unexplored Surrey: Aircraft Graveyard- Charlwood
Most public footpaths have views of the countryside- fields, trees and the occasional farm animal grazing in the distance. The view from this footpath in Surrey is a bit different- a collection of abandoned aircraft including Sea King helicopters and Harrier jets.
This unique scrapyard is located in the back garden of its owner, who lives on the site. The owner seems to be an enthusiast, with many of the aircraft kept in good condition, though stripped of much of their innards.
There is apparently more on the site than can be seen from the footpath, including old police cars and jet skis. Not much more is known about this bizarre resting place for these engineering masterpieces, but everyone needs a hobby, and this seems as good as any!
